Instructions: This section provides a brief description of the assessment task (the ‘what’). 

For this assessment, students will work independently to design an academic poster relating to the  case scenario from assessment one, applying the steps of evidence-based practice. This assessment  will develop students’ professional communication and dissemination skills by providing a practical  opportunity to share their work in a poster format. The poster will provide the student the  opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the steps of evidence-based practice as applied  to a case scenario. This section provides step-by-step task instructions (the ‘how’). 

∙ Students will use the clinical scenario they chose for Assessment 1: Portfolio to complete this  assessment (For example: If the student selected scenario 1, then their poster must also be  on scenario 1).  

∙ Students will develop an A3 academic poster following the instructions listed below. ∙ The academic poster must be A3 in size and submitted as a PDF in Turnitin. 

∙ The poster must include the following information: 

Part A: Introduction 

∙ Introduce the clinical problem.  

∙ Identify the significance/ importance of the clinical problem. 

∙ Identify the clinical question. 

∙ Identify the aims of the evidence-based practice project. 

Part B: Search strategy 

∙ List key search terms. 

∙ Outline search strategy to identify the best evidence on a clinical question. 

Part C: Findings and recommendations 

∙ Provide a summary of the findings of two articles that provide supporting evidence for the  clinical question (these must be different articles to the ones critiqued in assessment one).  ∙ Identify recommendations for an evidence-based practice innovation or change. 

∙ Provide a rationale for the recommendations. 

∙ Provide a brief outline of the strategy to integrate patient preferences and clinical expertise into  developing the evidence-based practice change or innovation. 

Part D: Application of evidence to nursing practice 

∙ Apply evidence to nursing practice by listing: 

o considerations for the implementation of the evidence-based practice innovation or  change. 

o the methods (minimum of three) for disseminating the findings of the evidence-based  practice innovation or change and a short description of why these were selected. 

o factors that will impact the sustainability of the evidence-based practice change or  innovation. 

Part E: Formatting and Visual Design 

∙ The poster must include a title and the author’s name and student number. 

∙ The poster should be visually appealing, not cluttered, and use colours, fonts, and patterns that  enhance the readability and presentation of the information.  

∙ Text content should be clearly arranged and organised using headings and subheadings. ∙ Any graphics or images should be relevant to the clinical problem and contribute to the  understanding of the information in the poster. 

∙ References are required for all in-text citations 

∙ Students will use the clinical question they formed in Assessment 1: Portfolio to develop  keywords and a search strategy.
