Palm vein recognition is a biometric technology used by healthcare providers because it helps identify patients with a high level of accuracy. Patients and healthcare providers prefer palm vein recognition since it is reliable, unique and secure. Palm vein recognition has scanners that offer an intuitive, stigma-free and easy to use interface that patients are comfortable using.

Palm vein recognition is used in medical imaging and analyzes internal parts of a human body. After analysis, it creates a visual representation of body organs. According to Brindha (2017), Palm vein recognition helps healthcare in that it helps in biometric recognition of patients. The biometric recognition will help the registration staff to access the correct medical record for each patient. Palm vein technology is essential in hospitals in that it helps pull the electronic record automatically for patients.

Palm vein technology has no privacy complication since palm vein biometric patterns are hard to forge since it requires a hand and blood flow to register an image. Palm vein technology has no ethical consideration since its primary purpose is to improve patients' data integrity and correct patient identification (Chamberlain College of nursing, 2020). As a nurse in a pediatric stem unit, palm vein technology's impact helps in positive patient identification; improving patient safety and faster check-in. Patients in the pediatric unit do not need ID documents to receive medical treatment and hence faster check-in. As a nurse in a pediatric stem cell unit, the impact of palm vein technology is that it eliminates duplicate medical records as palm vein technology links the patient's profile with their medical record. As a nurse in a pediatric stem cell unit, palm vein technology is easy to use for the nurse and the patients and, hence, efficiency in our healthcare.
