Instructions: case study: 66 year old caucasian female with past medical history of hypertension, diabetes and diabetic neuropathy and previous amputation of big toe and second digit on right foot. patient state after recent tornado she was doing some yard work then within a few days she noticed infection on her foot. patient is 157cm in height and 100.5kg in weight. patient presents to hospital with redness, pain, swelling and purulent drainage at previous amputation site. cbc and cultures reveal patient has septic shock and infection at amputation site . right foot purulent discharge from previous amputation site, swelling, tenderness, redness extending up to the ankle on the right foot. peripheral pulses palpable. treatment would include: apply vacuum seal on wound, treatment vancomycin, zosyn. blood culturtes ordered. diabetes mellitus: monitor blood sugars, continue insulin sliding scale and levemir. hypertension: monitor, continue at home medications morbid obesity: counsel for weight loss deep vein thrombosis and gastrointestinal prophylaxis with heparin and pantoprazole
