THE BRIEF/INSTRUCTIONS

  • The assessment of the module is a course work, a narrated power point presentation of a complex case study for 30 minutes, covering all four learning outcomes of the module.

  • You will choose one case study to address all the learning outcomes for your module. The case studies are provided within the ‘assignment tab’ of the module blackboard.

  • The learning outcomes being assessed are listed below, each LO has equal importance:

  1. Demonstrate application of the nursing process in caring for adults with complex care needs, their families and carers.
  2. Critically discuss the knowledge and skill required in order to refer people safely to other professionals within a range of health and social care organisations to deliver best person-centred health outcomes.
  3. Justify care decisions which take into account the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
  4. Integrate knowledge of biosciences and pharmacology when engaging in the collaborative evaluation of care and have the confidence to make changes to adult nursing care using best available evidence.

  • Case studies can be accessed in the ‘Assignment’ tab folder of NU4373 Blackboard. You need to choose only one character for your case study.

  • All assessment related materials including level 7 rubrics can be accessed in the ‘Assignment’ tab of the NU4373 blackboard.

  • The time allocated for the assignment is 30 minutes and all learning outcomes of the module must be achieved within this time limit. Any recording after 30 minutes will not be assessed or considered towards the achievement of learning outcomes.

  • If you are choosing the face-to-face presentation, please make sure to achieve all learning outcomes within your presentation. No additional questions will be asked by the lecturers in order to support you to achieve any of the learning outcomes.

PREPARATION FOR THE ASSESSMENT

  • You will have 3 Module Assessment Group Support (MAGS) sessions by the module team with an opportunity for you to ask questions. The 3rd MAGS session is a formative assessment, where students get an opportunity to experience the experience of peer review.

  • A blended learning approach will enhance your knowledge and understanding of complex care conditions. This teaching and learning strategy include face to face seminars, debate, co-created learning, live online sessions as well as asynchronous lectures.

  • The students can communicate and clarify queries related to the teaching materials or assessment, through the discussion board placed under ‘communication’ tab of the NU4373 blackboard
