Resource Management in Project Management

In the medical field, both physical and human resources are important. However, these resources must be scheduled to maximize their purpose. Physical resources in a health facility make work easier. Physical resources include; medical equipment, materials, facilities, supplies, and infrastructure, which are critically utilized by a project. For example, computers have been very helpful in gathering information and data, which is very important in nursing care (Hickman et al., 2020). Resource management is the act of ensuring that the right physical and human resources are at the right place, at the right time, such that the project can proceed as planned. Because of the nature of physical resources, they must be operated by human resources; therefore, they must work hand in hand to succeed. Human resources comprise all people engaged in actions whose objective is to improve health and generally the quality of life.

For big and complex projects, planning is imperative. To create a schedule, a project manager must describe how resources are acquired, managed, and used. Significantly, a project manager must also understand what resources are of concern and secure them. For example, one can create a periodic schedule as a guide to maintain and maintain resources. Below is a project tool extract of physical and human resource extract.

In the above project management tool, both physical and human resources are important; however, physical resources are not independent, human always guides them for normal functioning (Lavoie- Tremblay et al., 2017). Therefore, human resources are very important because they can work without physical resources; that ability by health practitioners of giving diagnosis and prognosis on empirical analysis makes them unique. To sum, both physical and human resources are very significant in the medical field. When they work together, they produce greater success than independent; hence, it is always encouraged to consider both sides.
