Pros and Cons of Genetically Modified Food
Along with the unprecedented scientific progress the humankind has achieved, new unexplored territories have been uncovered by researchers. Genetically modified foods, produced from crops grown from seeds with genetically engineered DNA, have been a hot topic throughout the past few decades (Gaskell et al., 1998; Marchant, 2001). The holders of the genetic information in every live organism, the genes, which are small fragments of the DNA chain, are intentionally manipulated to enhance the manifestation of some desirable traits, or to suppress the expression of other, unwanted features (e.g., genetic diseases).
